Art with a Modern Twist

Today's Artist Feature consists of both the world (nature's quarters) and an artist's unique identity, represented through her artwork. Today's creator loves color, nature, and the divine. With those fixations in mind, allow me to introduce artist  Gayle Jung.         Art made representing a surreal experience, Gayle Jung's work mixes realism with the abstract, causing a sort of magic in her pieces that are unique to her and her artistic identity. Whether it be through the bold background like the one within the owl artwork, that somehow doesn't overpower the main focus (the difference in texture and the greens and blues of the tree draw our attention there) or in the subtleness of the blues against the pale purple skin of the woman in the artwork below, (paired with the warm yellow of the syncing squares and the bold, yet slightly purple tint of the lips), Jung creates a world all her own; her placement of color challenges the rules of art and her choice

I am Woman

As winter has claimed its territory in my town, in my yard, with its delicate snow; the first blanket being the brightest, without imperfections, I'm reminded of a clean slate. A new beginning. As quickly as it leaves, a new year has approached yet again, and with it, our resolutions.       Resolutions: I often correlate the word with hope. Although, hope can only do so much. I want to love my body.       That statement was my inspiration for my first artwork of the year.       No one really understands the impact on your psyche when you're constantly wanting your body to be thinner, more toned, society's standard o

Without Art

"W ithout art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable." -George Bernard Shaw      T raditional Art, Digital Art, Photography, Poetry, Writing; Art and all of its forms open up the gateways to our hearts and lead us through the labyrinths of our minds: guiding us to manifest within them our emotions, imaginations, and viewpoints onto any material and through any medium we choose- creating this lively, colorful world we live in today.       I t's within the combination of at least two of these things that a power resides. A simple word can create a whole outlook onto a piece, (see: Title is as Title does ) and quite often, a few words can tell a whole story.     W ith this idea in mind, allow me to introduce today's featured artist, Abby Altman.       A story: the phrases beside the two artworks above create just that. If you skimmed over them, I implore you to read each again, and really stare at the images. What do you take from them?        I
